I am a ceramic artist living in Yakima, Washington. My work is primarily abstract and sculptural. I am influenced by plant life, especially fruit and exotic and aquatic plants.
I show my work regularly in galleries in Central Washington as well as in exhibitions around the country.
Mechanical Botanicals, a show of sculpture from my sabbatical and from this past summer runs February 4 - 28, 2015 at CORE Gallery in Seattle.
Writing & Exploration
If you would like to learn more about my sculpture, my inspiration, my processes or what I think about in the studio, please visit my blog. I regularly post photos or videos of my work in the studio and write about my work and my exhibitions. During the academic year, I sometimes write about my experiences in the classroom.
I run the ceramic studio at Yakima Valley Community College where I also teach Art Appreciation and Design classes. I teach wheel throwing hand-building classes.
Teaching is an important part of who I am. The process and experience of making art and the act and habit of teaching are completely interwoven in my life. I have been teaching ceramics and art classes, in some capacity, for more than a decade.
